Gilles Mendel – J. Mendel Spring 2011 RTW collection had an airy whimsical feel with the draped silk chiffon and light fur boleros. The models glided like ballerinas down the runway in bright Louboutins, Mendel’s version of the ballet slipper. He must have still had ballet on the mind since he had just designed the costumes for “Call Me Ben,” a New York City Ballet dramedy.
The feminine grace of his collections are sweeping up celebrities not just on the red carpet but magazine covers too.

Taylor Swift wore a shorten peach silk chiffon dress with beaded belt from Mendel’s Spring 2011 RTW collection to the People’s Choice Awards. She also went with a bright lip as in the runway look but did a nude Prada crisscross sandal, and finished the look with Neil Lane jewels.

Kicking off the first issue of the year for American Vogue is Natalie Portman, the Oscar nominated star of Black Swan. Covergirl Natalie Portman is also wearing the gorgeous J. Mendel peach silk chiffon dress with beaded belt in January’s issue of Vogue.
This year I find it hard for any of us to be able to resist pieces from Gilles Mendel collections. I know I want to Brisé volé around in a J. Mendel dress.
