Interview with Handbag Designer Michelle Booker

Michelle Booker is fashion industries’ latest handbag designer heavyweight. Launched just a few short years ago, this American label is already a smash hit. In her first interview Michelle talks with me candidly about K Michelle Collection. Later in the interview I throw her a few curve balls, see how she reacts.

What makes a ‘K Michelle’ woman?

She’s the casual chic professional that loves classic style with a little edge. She’s your ‘it’ girl who’s defined by character.

How did you get your start?

About 5 years ago, one night out of boredom, I was searching for handbags online, and started sketching designs, and by the end of the night or the next morning, I had sketched over 10 pages of designs, and I said this is it.

Ella) sounds like your Aha! moment

What is the inspiration behind your current collection?

I love to visit art galleries, it’s a hobby. Textures of art & the stories inspire KMC

Just like in art, the artist tells a story-the relation. That’s how I think about the KMC wearer.

1. What is your favorite curse word?

The F-bomb but s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d out.

2. If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive whom would it be?

My father; who passed away when I was younger.

3. What profession would you NOT like to do?

A doctor or dentist I would just pass out.

REVIEW

From the moment I opened the package there was no escaping the intoxicating smell of leather oozing out from behind the wrapping. The smell is very distinctive to buttery soft leather; the kind you can’t stop caressing. You know what I’m talking about.

Michelle has not skimped on quality or on the details with designing this line. The colors on leather could be tricky to accomplish but K Michelle’s fuchsia is divine. Little extra touches are everything; the stitch detailing right down to the extra storage pockets are impeccably made. A final note to add is in each of her handbags you will find a ‘Look Who’s Rockin K!’ card, a pic of how you rock your K Michelle bag. How incredible is that, seriously?
