Next to probably the Met Ball the Cannes Film Festival is the most star studded glamorous event that I always look forward too. The first Festival de Cannes opened on September 20, 1946 at the resort city of Cannes on the French Riviera. Now in it’s 64th year what started as a way to lure tourists back to the French Riviera, now attracts more than 30,000 people each year.
Let the fashion begin!
Who says you can’t wear a leather dress in the daytime…especially when the dress in question is Gucci. Salma brought Mexican caliente to kick-off Cannes Film Festival. Salma’s wearing a strapless Gucci leather dress, flower shrug, along with a Gucci handbag all from Fall 2011 collection to the ‘Puss In Boots’ Photocall.
Rachel McAdams was très chic in neutrals. Rachel wore a Maxime Simoens LWD with flower appliqué and nude pumps to the ‘Midnight in Paris’ Photocall.
For her daytime look Uma kept it simple in this form fitting Dolce & Gabbana white sheath dress with silver sandals to ‘The Jury’ Photocall.
Uma Thurman continued the white theme in a strapless Versace gown with fur accents and high slit to the evenings Opening Ceremony of the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival. The bodice is modified and shoes are Jimmy Choo.
Aishwarya Rai, former Miss World was every bit glamorous in a one-shoulder Elie Saab Couture gown which she paired with Jimmy Choo ‘Cosma’ clutch at the evenings Opening Ceremony of the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Who agrees this couture gown looks better on Miss World than the runway model?
Model Karolina Kurkova wore a beautiful navy Armani Privé gown with Cartier jewelry to the evenings Opening Ceremony at Cannes Film Festival.
Rachel is wearing an embroidered Marchesa red silk organza illusion dress with tulle ruffle skirt to ‘Midnight in Paris’ premiere at Cannes Film Festival.
Salma Hayek is sultry in this silver Gucci Premiére strapless gown with crystal embroidered bustier to the evenings Opening Ceremony at Cannes Film Festival.
PS Salma wore the first couture gown of Gucci Premiére Collection at last years Cannes.
Actress Gong Li wore a Roberto Cavalli deep purple bustier gown to the evenings Opening Ceremony at Cannes Film Festival.
Fan Bing Bing
The always fashion forward Fan Bing Bing picked a bright red strapless gown with bold cranes print in white to the evenings Opening Ceremony at Cannes Film Festival. She is always unexpected on the red carpet and I can’t wait to see what other fantastic pieces she has in store for this week.
Gaia Bermani Amaral
Gaia wore a long sleeve Roberto Cavalli sequined dark navy gown with open back to the evenings Opening Ceremony at Cannes Film Festival.
Day one is filled with gorgeous Couture, custom-made, and Ready-to-Wear pieces; now which would you pick as your favorite of the day?
